International Referee Nigel Owens confirmed as Christmas Lunch speaker

The speaker at the Wooden Spoon and Exeter Foundation Christmas Lunch has been confirmed as renowned international referee, Nigel Owens MBE.

The two charities have joined forces to deliver the new festive event, which takes place at the home of the Exeter Chiefs, Sandy Park on Friday 9th December from 12pm.

Owens is one of the most highly respected rugby referees in the world and is also regarded as a fantastic speaker, delivering a humorous insight into elite rugby and how to discipline giants of the sport.

He will be joined by leading comedian Tank Sherman, who is one of the most popular comics in the South West.  The event will also be compered by former Exeter Chief Chris Bentley and former Bath and England player David Trick and there is plenty of other entertainment planned to ensure a fun-packed afternoon.

The Christmas Lunch is being held in aid of the Wooden Spoon and the Exeter Foundation. The Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, funding around 70 projects each year that support disadvantaged and disabled children.

The charity of the Exeter Chiefs, the Exeter Foundation, works to create a focus for the future of Exeter and its surroundings; acting as a fundraising body for a range of charities and organisations in greater Exeter.

Tickets for this event are priced at £55 and can be booked by contacting either the Wooden Spoon or the Exeter Foundation – devon@woodenspoon.org.uk or events@sandypark.co.uk
