Richard was an Inspirational character who had many interest and hobbies, which included TenTors (a 35 mile trek across Dartmoor), Playing rugby in which he played for Teignmouth RFC and most memorable was the Scouts in which Richard was fortunate enough to attend the World Scout Jamboree, despite suffering with his illness. Richard was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma and underwent chemotherapy, but after 4 sessions the family were told that the cancer could not be cured.
Richard underwent a further 22 sessions as well as radiotherapy, and drug trials. During all of this Richard never complained and packed his short life full of the things he enjoyed and will always be remembered for.
After a very long and hard battle Richard lost his fight to Ewings Sarcoma in September 2008, and now this charity has been set up by his family to in his memory.
One of the charity’s main aims is to raise the much needed money for children, teenagers and young adults who are undergoing treatment for Cancer. The money will be used to treat such people to do something they enjoy, so that they too can have the experiences they deserve, making wishes come true.
