Age UK Exeter is an independent charity with its own local board of trustees, responsible for its own funding and governance. We provide support and opportunity to around 800 older people in Exeter each week both at our centre in Cowick Street and throughout the city. We help combat the loneliness and isolation experienced by so many, support individuals and their carers who are coping with dementia, physical frailty or mental health issues and provide information and advice and practical help to enable local older people exercise their rights, get the benefits they’re entitled to and improve their quality of life. We do this through a dedicated staff team and over 250 regular volunteers.

In 2010/11 as a result of helping with car parking and half time collections we received over £3,000 from the Exeter Foundation towards our work   in the city. That was fantastic, but with the funding environment getting ever more difficult we hope to beat that figure in 2011/12 with the help of the Foundation.
